    Metabolic and Cardiovascular Health

    Healthy Food Display

This service is for adults living with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol or triglycerides, or a family history of cardiovascular disease or stroke that's motivating a preventive approach. It's also for people who've just received abnormal lab results and want to understand concretely what to do — before or while the situation progresses toward medication or a complication.

Evidence-based nutritional support to reduce cardiometabolic risk, offered virtually in Montreal and across Quebec, with follow-up that adjusts to your lab results over time.

Why is nutrition so important here

Prediabetes and metabolic syndrome are often silent: slightly elevated blood sugar, borderline blood pressure, triglycerides a bit too high. Taken separately, these signals seem minor. Together, they signal an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease — and this is precisely the stage where nutritional intervention has the most impact, before irreversible complications set in.

The good news is that these markers respond well to dietary and lifestyle changes, often before a medication adjustment is even needed. Structured support helps target the right levers for your specific profile, rather than applying generic advice that ignores your lab results, your family history, and your everyday reality.

A new home for the whole family

nuome comes from "nu," meaning new, plus "home." Cardiometabolic health is rarely faced alone: it's often tied to family habits, history passed down from one generation to the next, meals shared together. Nuome offers a stable address to navigate these issues with real evidence behind you, rather than a generic diet found online.

    What this includes

    • Prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, including dietary adjustment based on blood sugar and A1C levels

    • Metabolic syndrome and abdominal adiposity

    • High blood pressure, including recognized dietary strategies like the DASH approach

    • High cholesterol, elevated LDL, low HDL, and elevated triglycerides

    • Family history of cardiovascular disease or stroke, with a preventive approach

    À quoi s'attendre lors d'une consultation

    • Pre-visit questionnaire including your recent lab results, if available

    • 60-minute initial assessment: medical and family history, current eating habits, a concrete and prioritized plan

    • Follow-ups to adjust the plan based on how your markers evolve

    Scope of practice

We do not diagnose diabetes, high blood pressure, or cardiovascular disease, and we do not prescribe or adjust medication. We work alongside the medical follow-up already in place, in collaboration with your family doctor or endocrinologist when relevant — particularly if medication needs to be reviewed based on the changes observed.

    FAQ

I have prediabetes — can I avoid type 2 diabetes with diet alone? In many cases, yes — or at least significantly delay the progression. Dietary and lifestyle changes are the recognized first line of intervention for prediabetes.

I'm already on medication for my blood pressure or cholesterol — is it still worth getting nutritional support? Yes. Nutrition can reduce the long-term need for medication, improve how well your current treatment works, and address other markers that medication doesn't cover.

I don't have a diagnosis, just a family history — is it worth consulting? Absolutely. Prevention is most effective before abnormal markers appear, and knowing your family history (early cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure) helps guide a proactive approach — whether that's a blood marker worth monitoring more closely, or dietary habits worth adjusting before anything becomes abnormal in the first place. In a healthcare system often built around intervening after disease is already established, nutrition remains one of the most accessible preventive levers available.

Do I need to get lab work done before consulting with you? It's not required, but if you have recent results, they help shape the plan right from our first meeting.
